We’re Here to Support “Support Talk”
As a women owned and led company, we are conscious to create an environment that our team, clients, and collaborators feel safe and welcome in. Sometimes that’s as simple as using inclusive language, and sometimes people’s needs can be a lot more complex. If you see the huge importance of levelling up your skill in this area, may we recommend Support Talk?
Our co-founder and executive producer, Victoria Conners, is an Auntie and mentor with The Aunties (Australia’s largest mentoring movement in the advertising and creative industry). Earlier this year they announced their partnership with Women’s Health Victoria in creating a new online training program, Support Talk.
But what is Support Talk?
‘Support Talk’ is an online training program sharing tools and strategies that help mentors respond to disclosures around gender-based bullying, violence, discrimination and sexual harassment, within the context of the advertising industry.
The program aims to ensure that mentors throughout the whole advertising industry are versed in how to best support younger women moving through the industry. How good is that?
At ETB we KNOW that ensuring more women can grow into this industry will help build stronger female representation both in front of and behind the camera. And as we know, the stronger representation behind the camera, the stronger representation on screen too.
The training takes approximately 40-60 minutes to complete and features a range of short-hand content, quizzes and a series of training videos.
And for only a little while longer Support Talk training is completely FREE! We couldn’t endorse this more strongly.
Supporting Women in the Industry
At Eric Tom and Bruce, we recognize the pivotal role we play in reshaping narratives. We're committed to challenging the status quo by creating content that authentically represents women in all their diversity—across age, race, occupation, and more. This commitment isn't just about who appears on screen but also who makes the creative decisions behind the camera.
With more women in leadership positions in the advertising production process, we ensure female perspectives are central to storytelling. This fosters more nuanced and authentic portrayals of women that resonate with audiences and reflect the diversity of the Australian experience.
Led by a predominantly female team, including our in-house director, Roxanne Halley, we are dedicated to elevating women in the industry. As a female-run company, we are committed to driving this change, but it will take a collective industry effort to make a lasting impact.
Programs like Support Talk are vital tools for fostering understanding and offering meaningful support to the next generation of female leaders. Together, we can build an industry where women thrive, not just in front of the camera, but in every role that shapes the stories we tell.
